Aretha Franklin’s ‘Let It Be’
For this morning's Brain Buster, CJ and JayCee asked this question: "Who did Paul McCartney intend to sing "Let It Be"?
The answer: Aretha Franklin. And, Aretha, in her Aretha way, decided to sit on the release of the song, so Paul's/Beatles' version was released first.
Others (according to Wikipedia) who have recorded the song:
- Joe Cocker
- Joan Baez
- Ferry Aid (which included McCartney and others)
- Noiseworks
- Tori Amos
- Judy Collins
Forgive me if any of this information is incorrect, as I am not a Beatles expert; blame it on Wikipedia and/or CJ.
Here is "Let It Be", in all of its Aretha glory:
