Acadiana Weather is a Mixed Bag for the Weekend

About lunchtime yesterday the sunshine finally broke through the clouds in Acadiana. It was nice to see and even nicer to feel the warm sunshine after a couple of days of chilly cold and rainy conditions. Our advice to you, if you like the sunshine you better get out and enjoy it today and Saturday because the clouds and rain are coming back on Sunday.

As far as today goes forecasters don't anticipate any weather issues in South Louisiana. The biggest thing you'll likely notice is the breeze has picked up and it's a cold breeze at that. High temperatures will reach the lower 60-degree range this afternoon. The same temperatures are forecast for Saturday.

Saturday night is where the changes come into Acadiana's forecast. An approaching storm system will increase the rain threat for the area significantly by the wee small hours of Sunday morning.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles have suggested a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms for much of South Louisiana from late Saturday night until the evening hours of Sunday.

The Storm Prediction Center is forecasting a thunderstorm threat for the area on Sunday but as of now, their forecast does not include the possibility of severe storms. That certainly could change over time, so do check back with us later this weekend.
