The holidays have now officially come and gone and most of us in South  Louisiana are looking forward to Wednesday. Why Wednesday? Why that's the official start of one of Louisiana's best seasons, King Cake Season. Which a lot of us look forward to more so than say hurricane season, which we'd just as soon forget.

Well, the good news is that Mother Nature wants us to focus on King Cakes this week since the weather around the area is going to basically be quiet all week long. The only exception to the placid conditions might be in the form of showers or thundershowers that are expected to move through the area late Wednesday afternoon and evening. They should be out of the area by Thursday, so if the forecast holds, most of us will get one night this week to fall asleep to gentle sounds of rainfall.

As of now, the Storm Prediction Center is not forecasting a widespread outbreak of severe weather or strong storms as they were forecasting last week. The SPC does suggest that Wednesday night's convection could include some thunder and lightning and maybe a gusty breeze or two but for the most part, should just be run of the mill showers passing ahead of a cold front.

Temperatures for today through Wednesday should be quite mild in the afternoon with high temperatures forecast to reach near 70 degrees each day. Following the frontal passage on Wednesday night temperatures will drop but we won't have freezing temperatures in the area. In fact, temperatures should remain seasonable for the balance of the workweek into next weekend.
