(Lafayette, Louisiana) - If you're battling with your sinuses, you are not alone; a lot of folks are suffering in South Louisiana due to the dry conditions across the region.

While some areas of Acadiana have been fortunate enough to receive a few "pop-up showers" in recent weeks, these have not been sufficient to make a noticeable difference, and that is why much of Acadiana is currently under drought-like conditions.

If you've been out in your yard, you know that it is very dusty, and you may have even noticed that the grass is slowly beginning to turn brown in some parts of the yard. So, when will it rain again? We'll get to that soon, but let's first address what you should not be doing during this dry spell.

Some areas of Acadiana remain under a "Burn Ban," meaning that you are not allowed to start an open fire due to dry conditions. At this point, until we get a substantial amount of rainfall, it's just not wise to burn anything. With lower humidity and lack of rain, a small fire can rapidly spread and be a danger to your and others' property.

So, when will Acadiana get rain? According to our media partners at the KATC TV-3 Weather Lab, rain chances are expected to improve by the weekend, with the best chance of rain occurring on Sunday, October 19.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that we do get rain this Sunday, even if it is on the weekend, because we really do need the rain to help us get out of the drought we've been in for a few weeks in Acadiana.

Here's a look at the extended forecast from KATC, and with more cold fronts approaching in the weeks ahead, perhaps we'll see rain chances increase in the days and weeks ahead.
