When you got out of your car did you remember to lock it? Most of us don't. Most of us are putting ourselves and our possesions at risk because we don't take half of a second to push that button on our key fob or the one on our car door when we exit. When you don't lock your car you make it too easy for bad guys to steal your things. A fact that's become all too real in parts of Acadia Parish over the past week.

Since November 30th the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement agencies have responded to 11 complaints involving vehicle break-ins. Most of those break-ins have been reported in the Bayou Plaquemine Road area which is located just to the north of Crowley.

Some of the items reported stolen from those vehicle break-ins include guns, electronics, and cash. In one instance the bad guys actually stole the vehicle, a 2015 Chevy Truck. That vehicle was later recovered.

There are persons of interest that local law enforcement would like to speak too. The suspects are believed to be in their late teens or early 20s. If you have information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for these crimes you might be eligible for a reward through the CrimeStoppers program. If you have information, you may report it anonymously by calling (337) 789-TIPS (8477).
