(Lafayette, Louisiana) - The U.S. Consumer Safety Commission has announced a recall on air conditioner units..

Nearly 2 million window air conditioners manufactured by Midea are being recalled.

The units under recall are sold in stores such as Costco, Best Buy, and Home Depot. The problem with the units, according to the recall, is that they are retaining water, which can lead to mold buildup within them.

The units are causing some individuals to exhibit signs or symptoms of mold-related respiratory infections and allergic reactions. Here are the brand names of the units sold that are retaining water and causing issues: Midea, Frigidaire, and Insignia.

How Do You Treat Mold in the House

Start by identifying and isolating the affected area, then clean and disinfect it using a mild detergent and water solution.

After cleaning the infected area, ensure that you dry it thoroughly to prevent it from becoming a recurring issue, which could lead to further mold growth in the exact location.

Improving air flow where mold was growing is a great way to prevent future problems as the air flow will prevent moisture build-up.
