UPDATE: A Crowley man has been identified as the suspect who stabbed two Acadia Parish narcotics agents Saturday in Mire.

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office reported 42-year-old Jason Broussard was booked into the Acadia Parish jail.

Sheriff's spokesman Maxine Trahan said deputies responded to a call regarding a disturbance at a grocery store in Mire. Upon arrival, deputies learned Broussard was inside the store causing problems with customers. Broussard had left the store shortly before deputies arrived, but he remained on the property. The two narcotics agents located the suspect in an outer building on the property. Upon attempting to make an arrest Broussard began to resist violently and stabbed both agents numerous times. Broussard was arrested while trying to flee the scene.

Broussard was booked for two counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of resisting arrest and possession of a weapon. His bond has been set at $1,075,000.

Trahan reported the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office had outstanding warrants for Broussard for an incident that occurred last week in Egan. For that episode, Broussard was wanted for felon in possession of a firearm and resisting an officer.

Sheriff Wayne Melancon said both deputies are home and are expected to have a full recovery.
