Two people have now been arrested after officers with the Lafayette Police Department reported to an area of the Evangeline Thruway Sunday after shots were heard near a motel.

Lafayette Police detectives, via a press release from the department, say that two people, 29-year-old Marcus Williamson and 21-year-old Debreana Green, were both arrested in connection to the shots being fired yesterday.

The two suspects were interviewed yesterday, and then subsequently booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder.

Lafayette Police Department Spokesman Paul Mouton says they started investigating after officers in the 2200 block of the Northwest Evangeline Thruway heard shots.

A car chase then started with officers following a car to an area near Grand Coteau.

Mouton says this investigation is continuing.
