When the Cajuns football team plays, the volunteers at Lafayette Animal Control select a canine friend to represent. As the boys in vermilion and white head to San Marcos to take on Texas State Saturday, Binx is the UL Game Dog of the Week! He's a happy terrier looking for a family to love.

Parish Brewing was the location, and over 400 people came out for the pet adoptions, booths, food and drink, all to support the cause.

The Lafayette Animal Control Center on Pont des Mouton will be the site for the event. The event starts at 1:30, with a visit from Uncle Sam!

My dogs are like family to me, so I don't see how some people can leave their family pet at a shelter just because they wanted to go on vacation.

The Humane Society of Louisiana is "On the Road Again" (to borrow a phrase.) Their TransPUPtation program was halted last year when their aging van succumbed to eight years of use. They have a new van, thanks to a New Orleans area bank.

Camp Bow-Wow holds its 5K-9 run/walk tomorrow to raise money for the Bow Wow Foundation and local humane societies.
