Cult comedies that attempt to regroup for a sequel many years after the original film often have mixed success. You’ll probably find few people who like Anchorman 2 or Dumb and Dumber To as much as the originals. But, that hasn’t stopped Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson from returning for Zoolander 2 and, despite the odds, this actually looks really funny.

A sequel to Ben Stiller’s ‘Zoolander’ has been a long time coming. The original movie, which followed the hilariously dumb misadventures of a male model named Derek Zoolander (Stiller), opened in the fall of 2001. 13 years later, work is finally starting to ramp up on the follow-up. Actor and writer Justin Theroux will direct ‘Zoolander 2’ (which should be called ‘2lander,’ for obvious reasons), and Stiller will reprise his role as Zoolander, along with Owen Wilson as his model buddy Hansel and Will Ferrell as the world’s most evil fashion designer Mugatu. Deadline says that the returning cast now has its first new addition in the form of the lovely Penelope Cruz.

It’s a ‘Wedding Crashers’ reunion for ‘The Internship‘ as “Boats ‘n Hoes” lyricist Will Ferrell has just signed on to join former ‘Crashers’ friends Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in the new comedy from director Shawn Levy. Things are about to get a little bit bro in here.

Whether you want to laugh, dance or just be scared, one of this weekend’s new movies should have something just for you. In ‘The Big Year,’ Owen Wilson, Jack Black and Steve Martin star as three obsessive bird watchers duking it out to see who can spot the most species in a given year.

Another sequel cruises into theaters this weekend by way of Pixar’s ‘Cars 2,’ with Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) back for another fast-paced adventure – this time, at the first-ever World Grand Prix. Reviews haven’t been too kind for the movie, but given Pixar’s recent successes, ‘Cars 2′ should have no problem taking the number-one spot at the box office.

Since we can't spend the entire Memorial Day weekend barbecuing (as much fun as that would be), many of us will observe the day by hopping over to the local cinema to take in a blockbuster movie and some free air conditioning, plus popcorn, candy.
