According to our sister station NewsTalk 965 KPEL — Brandon Scott Lavergne was admitted to a hospital in Jefferson Parish, suffering from several stab wounds, the same day missing University of Louisiana at Lafayette student Mickey Shunick disappeared.

I posted a picture on the KTDY Facebook page and on my personal Facebook page earlier this week which was taken from an old newspaper.  The picture is below, but to sum things up, it is from the "Lifestyles" section of a newspaper in New York from SEVERAL years ago.  Four men were asked the question:  "If a woman needs it, should she be spanked?"

According to our friends at NewsTalk 965 KPEL, Lafayette Police and officials from St. Landry Parish are searching property near the home of Brandon Scott Lavergne about 3 possible gravesites.

Police say Brandon Scott Lavergne, 33, from the Church Point area is being held in the Lafayette Parish jail on one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count of first-degree murder, reports KPEL 96.5.

Our friends at NewsTalk 96.5 KPEL tell us that Lafayette Police are confirming that dive teams are back at Whiskey Bay in the Atchafalaya Basin searching for clues in the disappearance of Mickey Shunick, but they say there is no new information in the case.

Update 12:53 pm: WLOX is now reporting that the torso was not that of missing Lafayette woman, Mickey Shunick. The remains had body piercings that did not match Shunick's. Read the full story at WLOX.com.

Acadiana’s own Nascar driver, Buster Graham, will be doing his part to aid in the search and rescue efforts for missing UL student, Mickey Shunick. Graham plans to have Shunick’s picture on the hood of his car during the ARCA Racing Series next week at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania.
