Bishop Rickey Moore of Sunrise Batpist Church in Shreveport will seal himself in a coffin at the conclusion of today's part of the church's Easter program at 3 PM, and remain inside until 3 AM on Easter Sunday morning.
Today is known as Holy or 'Maundy' Thursday to most Christians around the world, commemorating events in Jesus' life like the Last Supper, Jesus' agony in the garden of Gethsemane, his betrayal by Judas, and trial and arrest.
Social Media is going nuts over the 'Charlie Charlie Pencil Challenge'. The old Mexican tradition has it that you are contacting the ghost of a boy who killed himself, but many people believe that by doing the experiment, you are actually contacting a demon.
Robert Schuller, founder of the famous Crystal Cathedral has passed away. Schuller began preaching from a concession stand at a drive in movie theater in the 1950s. I can't believe I'm watching a report on CBS about child abuse in the church. Asking forgiveness for all clergy who have abused children in the church. The church, a place where all should be able to feel safe and sheltered. None of the Bishops who abused children have been punished in any way. Others have just been moved from church to church. One priest who abused children was not allowed to teach Sunday school. That was his punishment! I can't believe what I'm watching. I always knew that the clergy of the church were JUST MEN, yes even the Pope, but I wanted to believe in these special men. We aren't talking about one or two children either, there are hundreds and hundreds. The church is just starting to acknowledge there is a problem.
