Calcasieu River

We're just proud of the most fearsome bridge in Louisiana for standing tall in the face of adversity.

The EPA estimates that about 28% (or 80,000 miles) of rivers, lakes, and reservoirs are impaired due to pollution.

Built in 1952, the Calcasieu River bridge in Lake Charles has seen it's better years.

LaDoTD will be looking for private partners to fund a new toll bridge over the Calcasieu in Lake Charles.

The river is closed at the Saltwater Barrier while repairs are being made to the gates.

The waters have receded to the point where recreational boaters may once again have use of the public waterways.
