With the Lafayette Mardi Gras celebrations underway, we know what many of you have on your mind.

France may have originated the idea of Mardi Gras in 1294, but New Orleans perfected it.

The parades have finished rolling and the Hurricane ride is packed up on the truck, all that's left of Mardi Gras are the headaches and the beads.

Monster Jam and LARC are teaming up to hold an operation bead collection event.

On Thursday, March 13th, Monster Jam truck Fatal Attraction will be parked outside the CAJUNDOME Box Office to be “stuffed” with Mardi Gras Beads. All bead donations will be collected by LARC as part of their Beads-n-More Enterprises, which creates jobs and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.

While at a Mardi Gras parade recently I was posed the question by some folks from Quebec, "Why do they throw beads?"
