A Lafayette woman has hit the front page of TMZ for a really great (but slightly bizarre, by TMZ standards) reason: she is rehabilitating an injured squirrel.

The Lafayette Animal Shelter is having a Second Chance Saturday adoption event this Saturday from 1-3 PM. Fees waived for veterans and seniors!

He was called out to see about an injured hawk, and the care and compassion that he shows the animal gives us a direct view into Richard's soul.

The case of "Floyd" was brought to my attention recently, and his story really breaks my heart.

The t-shirts feature an image of Zeus, who had been tied up and abandoned by his previous owners.

From 3-8pm on April 12th, take your friends and family to Raising Cane's, have a delicious meal (don't forget the lemonade!), and help raise funds for Safe Haven!

UPDATE: Zeus is still in need of donations. He is a victim of a domestic dispute and was found emaciated and could use some help in getting him back to health.

A friend asked me the other day where she could adopt a rescue puppy in Lafayette, and I was quick to point her to Cajun Paws Rescue and show her this video!

Cajun Paws Rescue (CPR) took in "Carter" last night, and they need help nursing him back to health. CPR gets 100s of emails, calls, messages, and texts about dogs in need. But this one hit them hard. Meet Carter. He was found running out of a cane field in Iberia Parish and the guy who found him just couldn't bear to leave him on the side of the road...

The goal of Cajun Paws Rescue is to make this dream come true for all of the other Pitbull/Pitbull mixes who are facing the same circumstances.

Roux was hit by a car and has a broken leg, but will heal quickly. He is looking for a foster home or, even better, a 'furever' home!
