The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Cyber Crimes Unit arrested a Port Barre accused of downloading child pornography. The search of John Bertrand's house revealed hundreds of the disturbing images. In a release from Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, deputies teamed up with the Department of Homeland Security to execute a search warrant in the 200 block of Virginia Elizabeth Street.

Multiple computer hard drives were found in Bertrand's bedroom and all contained the pornographic material. According to the release, Bertrand admitted to downloading the images:

Bertrand stated that he download and stored numerous images of child pornography on his computer and external hard drives because he was lonely and enjoyed looking at erotic photos of children.  Bertrand also stated that the child pornography was his sexual outlet and that he had no other social interaction.  

The ​​​photos allegedly involved children between the ages of 3-14.

Sheriff Guidroz said, "St. Landry Parish is not the place for crimes against children especially pornography and would like to commend the  Cyber Crime Unit of the sheriff's office and the Department of Homeland Security."
