Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled for Saturday in New Iberia

This weekend is Memorial Day weekend and with that comes the unofficial kick-off to summer.

A lot of us will be out at graduation parties, family gatherings and the like. But remember to stay safe!

The New Iberia Police Department will be doing its part to keep the community safe as they'll be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, May 25, 2019 between the hours of 9:00 pm and 3:00 am. The checkpoint will be held within the incorporated limits of the city.

The purpose of the checkpoint is to target impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol or any other dangerous substance. Officers will respond with zero tolerance to those drivers found under the influence.

As always, if you intend to drink, designate a driver. Not doing so could result in costly fines and serious jail time.
