Allied Waste and the Recycling Foundation will run their regularly scheduled garbage and recycling collection routes Christmas week, Dec. 20-24.

The week following Christmas, Dec. 27-31, residents in the cities of  Lafayette and Carencro, as well as unincorporated areas of Lafayette Parish, can put excess garbage outside of the automated cart.  All garbage must be bagged and each bag cannot weigh over 35 pounds.

You can place large empty boxes out for collection the week following Christmas, but boxes should contain only the original packing material.

Remove all lights and ornaments before putting your natural Christmas tree out for collection, as Christmas trees will be recycled into mulch this year in Lafayette, and any Lafayette Parish resident can drop a cleaned, natural Christmas tree, for free, at the Lafayette Consolidated Government compost facility at 400 Dugas Rd.

You can place your discarded artificial tree on the ground for collection on the weeks following both Christmas and New Year.
