(99.9 KTDY) - The only thing worse than one of your family members being sick is if your fur family member gets ill. There have been a few pet food and pet treat products that have been recalled due to worries over salmonella being possibly present in the food and treats, according to the FDA.

Why This Recall Matters

Officials with the Food and Drug Administration say they have not received any complaints of pet illness due to these products.

Salmonella Risks for Pets and Humans

Salmonella can cause major sickness in pets and humans. Humans can become impacted with illness if they handle this pet food that was possibly contaminated with Salmonella. Raw Bistro issued the following about the impact Salmonella can have on a dog,

Pets infected with Salmonella may be lethargic, have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, or vomiting. Some pets may experience only decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and transmit infection to other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and shows these symptoms, contact your veterinarian.
