27-year-old Rasiem Fredericks of Opelousas has been arrested after he allegedly slapped a 6-year-old boy who he says was being disrespectful to him on Christmas Day.

According to a press release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, Fredericks was with the 6-year-old child, as well as a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old while their mother was away from her home in the 100 block of Castille Road in Sunset for a short while. The mother told deputies that Fredericks texted her that he slapped the boy in the head after the boy yelled at him and hit him in the head, but that he didn't slap the boy hard enough to make him pass out. The mother says Fredericks also sent a picture of the boy to her, saying he would not allow the child's disrespectfulness to continue.

Fredericks then texted the mother that this was a social media prank and that he used makeup on the boy's face because of that. Deputies say he told them it was just a joke that the mother took too seriously. But the boy said that makeup was not applied to his face, which deputies say showed redness as he complained of tenderness when the red area was touched.

Fredericks now sits in the St. Landry Parish Jail booked for Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment with NO BOND at this time.
