A victim is in the hospital with a gunshot wound after two related shootings around lunch on Saturday.

The first shooting happened just before noon, bringing Lafayette Police officers to the the 1300 block of W. Willow Street, according to a press release from the Department. PIO Sergeant Wayne Griffin says two people were riding in the same vehicle and started shooting at each other with handguns after an argument turned violent. Both of them were able to get away before officers made it on scene.

As police officers were processing the incident on scene, another call came in as one of the parties involved in the incident drove to a home in the 300 block of Orchid Street. Paramedics showed up to find the victim and transfer the person to a local hospital.

The investigation continues.
