The Louisiana Department of Health has issued its daily update for Friday, May 1.

There are now 28,711 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Louisiana. That number is up 710 since yesterday.

Numbers show that there are 1,607 reported COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized- an increase of 6 since yesterday.

230 patients are on ventilators across the state. That is a decrease of 1 since yesterday.

The total number of deaths reported due to the coronavirus is now at 1,927, an increase of 65 since yesterday.

As of today, 17,303 COVID-19 patients are presumed recovered.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the Acadiana region is 1,560 (increase of 31 cases) with 137 deaths reported (increase of 6 deaths).

Lafayette Parish: 463 cases, 20 deaths (They are up eight cases, same number of deaths since yesterday)
Iberia Parish: 261 cases, 21 deaths (They are up four cases and one death since yesterday)
St. Martin Parish: 241 cases, 17 deaths (They are up nine cases, same number of deaths since yesterday)
St. Mary Parish: 193 cases, 23 deaths (They are up two cases and three deaths since yesterday)
St. Landry Parish: 181 cases, 44 deaths (They are up one case and two deaths since yesterday)
Acadia Parish: 133 cases, 10 deaths (They are up three cases, same number of deaths since yesterday)
Evangeline Parish: 51 cases, 1 death (They are up two cases since yesterday)
Vermilion Parish: 37 cases, 1 death (They are up two cases, same number of deaths as yesterday)

There is more widespread representation throughout the state as all 64 parishes now have at least one confirmed case of COVID-19. The total number of deaths reported due to the coronavirus is now at 1,927. New Orleans continues to be the hardest-hit area of the state. The next update is due out tomorrow at noon.
