People who love the cooler weather in Louisiana will love the news that a strong cold front will be part of the forecast next week.

If you have been waiting to cook your first gumbo of the season or light the first fire in your fire pit, we have some exciting news to share here.

A strong cold front will reach the deep south by early next week and it will certainly feel like Fall across much of the region.

We've been fortunate enough to have a few weak cool fronts push through the area to start the month of October, but the next front could be the strongest yet.

According to several forecasts we've seen, we could see highs during the day reach only the mid--70, and have lows dip into the lower 50s and perhaps even into the upper 40s at night.

So yes, a true cold front is on the way down and you'll certainly want to have the jackets ready for the kids by early next week.

Remember, hurricane season runs through November, so the more cold fronts we have that push further south, they could protect the Gulf Coast from any tropical developments. In the meantime, get your gumbo pots and fire pits ready because some much cooler days and nights are coming.

And yes, it's finally feeling a bit like "Spooky Season."
