Louisiana Grocery Store Highlighted in Jim Cantore’s Storm Prep Tweet
When people in Louisiana storm prep, we do it a bit differently than the rest of the country.
For many years the running joke has been that when a hurricane is approaching the Gulf Coast, people down here will get bread, water, and beer. And while all of that is accurate, we do add a few more things to the shopping cart.
In addition to the above 'necessities" folks in Louisiana will also cook a lot of food before a storm arrives, and if not, we'll cook the food after the storm.
Being that many residents in Louisiana have access to natural gas in their homes or on their patios, cooking isn't an issue before or after a storm, thus you need to get the ingredients for a nice rice and gravy before the storm.
One meteorologist posted a photo of what she got before Hurricane Francine and you may recognize the labels on the packages of meat. She went to one of our favorite grocery stores in south Louisiana, and that's NuNu's.
After posting what she got to prep for the storm, Jim Cantore of The Weather Channel shared her image on "X" and noted that is how we prep for hurricanes in Louisiana.
Jim has been down here quite a bit in recent years and if we continue to show him how we eat down here, he may never leave---and contrary to some, we're fine with that.
Check out what Jobie Lagrange bought while at NuNu's and can you guess as to what she was about to cook? Now we're hungry too.
Here's The Weather Channel's star meteorologist with a UL Ragin Cajuns hat on. He may soon be calling Acadiana home.
Is it too soon to say that he purchased a house in River Ranch?
