The Louisiana Department of Health has issued its daily update for Wednesday, September 23rd.

There have been 162,645 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Louisiana. That's 440 more reported cases since yesterday.

Also, LDH releases updated numbers on COVID-19 cases at K-12 schools in the state. There are 253 known cases based on 948 schools reporting. Of the reported cases 172 are students and 84 are faculty and staff members.

Numbers show that there are 592 reported COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized. That is 21 more hospitalizations than yesterday.

94 patients are on ventilators across the state. That is 2 fewer reported patients on ventilators than yesterday.

LDH reports the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 is 5,225. That is 7 more reported deaths since yesterday.

149,640 COVID-19 patients are presumed to have recovered, as of September 14th. That's 4,070 more recovered cases than the week before.

Lafayette Parish: 8,875 total cases, 126 total deaths
