On Friday, La. State Police will escort 1 large steel vessel through Lafayette. The route (seen above) will go from Carencro to Lafayette and is estimated to last approximately 4 hours.

Berard Transportation says, at nearly 23' high, their load will require all local utilities to lift wires and traffic signals, slowing traffic along their route.

The load will depart from Carencro around 8:30 a.m. As it makes its way to the Vermilion River on E. Broussard Road, it will travel through Ambassador Caffery from I-10 to Johnston Street. This should happen between 10:00 a.m. and noon.

Once the vessel gets to the Vermilion River, it will be loaded onto a barge to be delivered to a refinery in New Orleans.
