Suspect In Fatal Lafayette Crash Bonds Out Of Jail
12/5/12 - Fred Dutton, Jr. has bonded out of the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a $25,000 bond. Dutton is charged with vehicular homicide in the death of 22-year-old Rachael Sonnier of Lafayette.

12/5/12 - Police issued a warrant for the arrest of Fred Dutton, Jr, for vehicular homicide on Tuesday, December 4. Dutton reportedly turned himself in later that same day.
The incident is still under investigation.

11/23/12 - Police have now released the identity of the driver as being 22-year-old Rachael Sonnier of Lafayette.

11/22/12 - Police were dispatched to the intersection of Kaliste Saloom Road and Rue Louis XIV last night after reports of a major crash.
Investigators say that a white Buick Lacrosse was turning left from Rue Louis XIV onto Kaliste Saloom Road. That was when it collided with a red Ford Mustang that was on Kaliste Saloom going north. The driver of the Buick, a 22-year-old Lafayette woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other car, 23-year-old Fred Dutton, Jr, was charged with OWI and Failure to Obey a Traffic Signal.
Another passenger in the Buick was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin. The crash remains under investigation by Lafayette Police.
