Help make mats for Father Meaux's Haiti Mission, dance to big band hits with the Skyliners, or write the story of your life.

The Bag Mat Ministry needs help making sleeping mats from recycled plastic shopping bags to send to Father Glenn Meaux's Haiti Mission.  Workshops are at Grace Presbyterian Church, 518 Roselawn Blvd., Lafayette, next to L.J. Alleman School.   Next meeting is Saturday, January 14th, from 9am - 2pm.  Refreshments will be provided.  This is a great project for youth service groups.  For more information, contact: Mats4Homeless@gmail.com.

On Saturday, January 28, starting at 2 PM, the Parkview Library plans a Life Writing workshop lead by Louisiana native Patricia Charpentier. Patricia will teach you how to preserve your family’s heritage and history, along with documenting your own personal stories to share with future generations. The workshop is FREE of charge, but registration is required. The Skyliners are having their first dance of the 2012 season, Saturday, January 14th from 7:30p.m. until 11:00 p.m. The 20 piece jazz orchestra of local musicians has been around since 1950. Dances are at The Petroleum Club of Lafayette, 111 Heyman Blvd. Tickets are available at the door for $15.00/person. 2012 season tickets are now onsale too.
