(Kaplan, Louisiana) - Louisiana State Police officials say they are still investigating the crash, but their preliminary information is that a driver did not stop and ended up slamming his car into the back of an 18-wheeler.

Louisiana State Police spokesperson Trooper Peggy Bourque says 62-year-old Mitchell Livings of Kaplan was driving his vehicle on Louisiana Highway 14 westbound. In front of Livings' vehicle was an 18-wheeler. Bourque says they are still investigating, but they do know Livings drove into the back of the Kenworth 18-wheeler.

Bourque says Livings was not wearing a seatbelt, and he received ending injuries when his vehicle hit the 18-wheeler. She says Livings did not slow down at all.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was buckled up and was not hurt. The 18-wheeler driver voluntarily submitted to a breath test which revealed no alcohol was present in his system. Bourque says routine toxicology tests were taken from Livings and sent to the State Police Lab.
