Louisiana law enforcement officials say that a man decided he wanted to steal a UPS truck and then take police on a high-speed chase.

The entire situation seems wild, and the coverage of the incident by the Shreveport Police Department's Facebook page is also wild.

The headline of the post reads,

SPD teams with UPS to ship straight to jail!!

What Happened With This Chase?

According to officials with the Shreveport Police Department all of this began to unfold at around 5 o'clock in the morning on Monday, February 17, when the suspect Skylar Jarvis allegedly store the UPS truck. When the report came in, officer immediately responded.

Shreveport Police tried to stop Jarvis, but he just kept driving at a high rate of speed, apparently all over the city. And if the high-speed chase wasn't dangerous enough, Shreveport Police wrote in the Facebook post that Jarvis,

......must have thought he was on express delivery—because he led officers on a high-speed pursuit in the stolen truck, which just so happened to be loaded with firearms and controlled substances.

Yes, that's right, not only was this person on a high-speed chase but there were firearms and controlled substances, very expensive items, in that UPS truck.

Well, what do you know, police officials say Jarvis' strategy on the run was to ram into a K-9 unit and a patrol car.

How Did The High-Speed Chase End?

Jarvis was apparently not very good at handling the UPS truck because he ended up crashing it on I-49 and Bert Kouns Road.

The Facebook post describes it like this,

....his one-way trip ended in custody—no tracking number needed.

Jarvis had injuries, so he was treated at a hospital,l and then he was booked into jail on the following charges:

  • Attempted First-Degree Murder
  • Auto Theft
  • Aggravated Flight

While officials say the investigation is ongoing, the way they wrapped it up on Facebook says it all,

Big shoutout to our officers and K-9 Edy for ensuring this stolen package made it to its final destination—jail.#ShreveportPD #WrongAddress #CrimeDoesntShipWell

Shreveport Corporal Chris Bordelon says other charges are pending, according to KTAL.
