Louisiana Crawfish Prices Drop Heading into Mardi Gras
Louisiana Mardi Gras is officially kicking off this weekend, and folks are gearing up for back-to-back parades across Acadiana from Lafayette, Houma, Mamou, and New Orleans.

The fun and festivities don't wait for Fat Tuesday though. The kick-off parade in Lafayette, Krewe De Allons starts at 6:30 on Feburary 28th, Saturday is packed with parades from the Childrens parade, Youngsville Mardi Gras, and the day wraps with The Krewe of Bonaparte parade. And That's not even counting Monday and Tuesday.
Every special occasion in south Louisiana ends up being centered around food one way or another and Mardi Gras is no exception.
Jambalaya, Cajun Spagetti, and anything else that can be cooked in a large pot along the parade route are an absolute must.
But what Cajun folks really want to get their hands on is boiled crawfish.
The price of boiled crawfish looks to be dipping a bit going into Mardi Gras weekend and the days ahead, which is great news for those of us who have been holding out.

These days, there is an app for everything, so if you don't have the Crawfish App and you want to score the best deals on boiled crawfish near you, you should download it from your smartphone's app store.
As of Thursday, boiled crawfish prices are ranging from $4.19 per pound to $9.49 per pound.
Live crawfish looks even better with prices ranging from $2.00-$4.25 per pound.
So whether you want to kick back after the parades and let someone else boil them, or you want a couple of sacks of crawfish to make them how you like them, this will be a great weekend to take advantage of the lower crawfish prices.
