According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, 45-year-old Terrell Miles of Harvey, Louisiana, entered a Marrero bar in the 5600 block of Fourth Street wearing a ski mask and gloves.

Miles began demanding money from the bar as he walked around the bar counter while flashing a gun. It was when he took an undisclosed amount of cash that a patron in the bar took matters into his own hands.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office's spokesperson, Sgt. Brandon Veal, the patron, was also armed and shot Miles in the stomach as an act of 'defense of others', and no other injuries were reported.

Fox 8 reported that Miles was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition. However, his troubles are far from over. Authorities say he will be booked with armed robbery and for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Terrell Miles, 45, is a convicted felon and will be booked with armed robbery and being in possession of a firearm.

The patron who acted in self-defense is reportedly not facing any charges for his actions.

Louisiana law (R.S. 14:95.5) typically prohibits carrying a firearm into businesses where over 50% of revenue is generated from the on-site sale of alcohol. However, exceptions can apply, such as instances of self-defense or if the establishment does not meet the legal definition of a bar.
