Breaux Bridge High School Incident Under Investigation After Teacher Allegedly Head-Butts Student
The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into a disturbing incident that took place Wednesday at Breaux Bridge High School, where a student was allegedly head-butted by a teacher, resulting in a fractured nose. According to a report from KLFY News 10, the confrontation reportedly took place during a lunch period and has raised concerns among parents, students, and now the community at large.
Sakeou Brown, the father of the injured student, expressed his dismay over how school officials handled the situation. He shared that he learned of his son's injury from his daughter rather than from school staff, adding that he was “at a loss for words” upon hearing about the involvement of a teacher. “You see his nose bleeding, why not call the ambulance and take him to the hospital or call the parents?” Brown questioned. His son, now recovering at home, is reportedly still dealing with headaches following the incident.
The KLFY report states that the student was allegedly given tissues and placed in a behavioral class immediately following the altercation, a response that has further frustrated Brown. He noted this isn’t the first issue his son has encountered with the same teacher, referencing an incident a month ago in which the teacher reportedly sprayed an unidentified substance on the student without consequences.
Facebook reactions to the story were mixed, with some comments expressing empathy toward teachers facing challenging student behavior. One commenter shared, "You are going to have a really hard time convincing me high school students aren’t some of the most disrespectful creatures on this earth," while another lamented, "That school has major issues that they would rather push under the rug than address." Still, others pointed out that physical harm is not a justifiable response to disciplinary issues. “If the student is having behavioral issues, there’s better ways to handle it than physically harming a child,” said one local resident.
In response, the St. Martin Parish School Board has not provided an official statement, and Brown is reportedly seeking legal advice, indicating he has concerns about his son’s long-term safety and well-being.
