Louisiana officials say two teenage girls have been arrested after they allegedly tried to frame a male teacher for sending inappropriate messages on a social media platform. The tables were turned, however, after investigators determined the teacher, in fact, had not been sending any type of messages to the 15-year-old and 16-year-old students.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre, along with Lafourche Parish School Superintendent Jarod Martin, jointly announced the two teenagers were arrested after an extensive investigation by deputies. Both teens attend Central Lafourche High School in Raceland.

Webre says a concerned citizen made a complaint that a male teacher was possibly interacting with the two teenage girls in an inappropriate manner. This started an investigation into the details of the case. Both Webre and Martin say all allegations of indecent behavior by a teacher are thoroughly investigated.

The investigators began looking into the allegations, and while they were delving into the technology of the social media platform and what was allegedly happening, they determined that the girls made up a fake user account along with fabricating messages allegedly coming from the male teacher. Neither Webre nor Martin gave any motive for why the girls allegedly did this frame-up job against the teacher.

Webre says the two teenagers were charged with the following:

  • One count each of False Swearing for the Purpose of Violating Public Health or Safety
  • One count each of Cyberstalking
  • One count for each Online Impersonation

Webre adds that while they will always investigate any complaints about someone being inappropriate with a child, they also investigate thoroughly when false accusations have been made against someone.

The investigation began on December 18 when the complaint came in, and the two teenagers were arrested after a two-week investigation into their devices.

Webre says investigators didn't stop investigating into they got all of their answers,

Our juvenile detectives are diligent and take claims of inappropriate behavior very seriously. They are, however, equally serious about false claims. Someone' life can be instantly ruined by a false allegations, and I am proud that our investigators were able to get to the bottom of this. Technolody has made it very easy for people to try to manipulate the truth, but technology also makes it easy for investigators to ultimately find the truth.

Superintendent Martin said,

shocked and appalledThe allegations against one of our teachers were false and malicious
