LAFAYETTE, La. (KMDL-FM) - I saw something today that reminded me of the 2017 Luke Bryan No. 1 song "Most People Are Good." In it, he sings: "I believe this world ain't half as bad as it looks. I believe most people are good."

Teurlings Catholic High School shared a Facebook post made by its head football coach, Michael Courville, and in it, showed a picture of one of his players after Friday night's big game against crosstown rival St. Thomas More.

A Rivalry Game That Meant More Than the Score

As many of you know, that is a huge game for both schools, and for the first time in a decade, Teurlings came out on top. But that's really immaterial here.

Coach Courville shared a photo of one of his players well after the game, with his uniform still on, picking up trash on the visitors' stand.

The Postgame Moment Everyone’s Talking About

Think about that. A kid spent all day at school. Stayed at school prepping for the big game. Played the game. Went to the locker room after the game. He then decided he would be thoughtful, walk back to the field, and help those who had to do, quite frankly, a thankless job.

The kid's name is Hudson Clavelle, by the way. He's a first-year player on the team who just recovered from an injury. He didn't play much during last night's game, but again, that's really not important here.

Coach Courville’s Praise for His Player

As Coach Courville said, Hudson has "incredible character and servant leadership on display."

A Reminder That ‘Most People Are Good’

There are many great schools and kids throughout Acadiana. (I can surely attest to the great traits that Teurlings brought out of my son, as he graduated from there in 2023.)

I hope simple stories like this one prove to us all that while the world is filled with a lot of problems, hate, division, discord, and the like, in many of our communities around here, "most people are good."
