Powerball Winner: Louisiana Lottery Confirms Saturday’s Win
Our sources at the Louisiana Lottery offices in Baton Rouge have bestowed some very good news for lottery players in Louisiana. Saturday night's drawings were very lucrative for players who participated in the multi-state Powerball game and the in-state game Easy 5.
Much of the weekend's lottery attention was focused on Friday's Mega Millions drawing. That game had a jackpot well in excess of half a billion dollars when the ping pong balls dropped August 30th at 10 p.m. The game did not get a jackpot winner but there was a big-money ticket sold in Louisiana. So, if you played Mega Millions on Friday night, do check your ticket. You can verify your numbers here.
We can confirm that no ticket sold for the August 30th Mega Millions game matched the numbers needed to claim the jackpot prize. When the game draws again on Tuesday evening the estimated jackpot will be $681 million for the annuitized amount. A lump sum payout would equate to $336.1 million. Either way you slice it, it is a life changing amount of money.
Louisiana Lottery Confirms Powerball Results, Reveals Big-Money Winner
The other mult-state lottery game that is played in Louisiana is Powerball. That game holds drawings on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday night. Last night Powerball held a drawing for a top prize of $72.1 million. Here is how that drawing played out.
Our sources at Powerball did confirm to us that no ticket sold across the game's footprint matched the numbers needed to claim the jackpot prize. That money will now increase for Monday's Powerball drawing. It is estimated that by the time ticket sales cease on Monday evening the jackpot amount will be approximately $80 million. That is the annuitized jackpot amount. The lump sum payout would be $39.5 million.
Powerball game officials did confirm a Match 5 Million ticket was sold in California. We have also learned through our sources at the Louisiana Lottery in Baton Rouge that a ticket sold in Louisiana was a $50,000 winner.

The preliminary information from the lottery suggests the winning ticket matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball. By rule, a match scenario involving four of five and the Powerball is worth $50,000. Congratulations to the individual who stopped in at the Racetrac Gas Station/Convenience Store on U.S. 190 in Covington, Louisiana and decided to play Powerball. Your ticket is a big-money winner.
If you'd like to officially verify your numbers and check your tickets there are two ways to do that. By our estimation there were over 60,000 winning tickets sold in Louisiana for Saturday's Powerball. We hope one of those was yours. But Powerball wasn't the only game that produced a winner in Louisiana on Saturday.
Louisiana Easy 5 Ticket Wins $180,000 Saturday Night
Saturday's Easy 5 game from the Louisiana Lottery actually produced a bigger win than the Powerball game did. The jackpot in Easy 5 was $180,000. Saturday night a ticket sold in Shreveport matched all five numbers in the Easy 5 drawing to lay claim to that game's top prize.
The numbers reported by the Louisiana Lottery for Easy 5 on Saturday August 31, 2024 were: 03 04 08 10 13 .
Use those numbers for reference but please verify your ticket at the Louisiana Lottery website before you attempt to claim a prize. They'll have information on the Louisiana Lottery site that will direct you in prize redemption. The Easy 5 jackpot will now reset to $50,000 for Wednesday's drawing. The Lotto game did not get a jackpot winner on Saturday. That game will feature a top prize of $700,000 when they draw again on Wednesday.
