One Dead Following Late Afternoon Shooting in Lafayette
One person died following a shooting late Monday afternoon in the 200 block of Sophie Street in Lafayette.
Lafayette Police were dispatched around 5:15 pm to a call of multiple shots fired in the area and a male lying in the roadway.
Upon arrival, officers located a black male in the roadway unresponsive suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has since been identified as Kentrevion Gallien, 23, of Lafayette, LA.
It is still early in the investigation and investigators are actively working on the case.
Lafayette Police is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact their department or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
