(Baton Rouge, LA) It was a fast and furious lottery weekend for our friends at the home office of the Louisiana Lottery in Baton Rouge. The jackpot for the multi-state Powerball game was at the second-highest level it had ever been. The Lotto game in Louisiana had a jackpot of over $2 million, and Easy 5 was well over $100,000 for the weekend as well.

Needless to say, most of Louisiana's lottery action over the weekend was driven by the Powerball prize of nearly $2 billion. Based on information from the Louisiana Lottery, it appears as though there were 45,165 winning Powerball tickets sold in the state. The number of winning tickets that included the Power Play bonus was listed at 20,309.

If you did not hear, the Powerball prize of $1.787 billion was won by two tickets. One ticket was sold in Texas in the town of Fredericksburg. The other ticket was sold in Missouri. Now, we might not hear too much about the Missouri ticket since that state is one of ten that grants lottery winners true anonymity should they win a huge jackpot prize.

What Was The Powerball Jackpot for Saturday, September 6, 2025?

If you missed it, here is the drawing from Saturday night:

The Saturday drawing also made a bunch of new millionaires across the country. There were Match 5 Million winners, that's where you match the white balls but miss the Powerball, sold on 18 different tickets. California, New York, Illinois, Ohio, and Texas all had two each, along with Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, and West Virginia.

In Louisiana, our number match scenario for the winning tickets sold here was just one notch below that Match 5 Million threshold. Our big winners on Saturday all matched four of five white balls along with the Powerball. There were three tickets that had that number match scenario for a prize of $50,000, and two others that earned a prize of $100,000 because they opted for the Power Play multiplier, which for Saturday's game was "x2"
