Louisiana Lottery Confirms Big Powerball Win on Wednesday
(KMDL-FM) The multi-state lottery game Powerball held its Wednesday drawing last night. Officials with the Louisiana Lottery have confirmed that Wednesday's Powerball did produce a big money winner in the state. According to our sources at the Louisiana Lottery, one ticket sold for Wednesday's drawing earned a prize of $150,000.
Last night's Powerball was the 11th drawing since that multi-state lottery game had a jackpot win for a prize of $1.787 billion on September 6th. Since that big win, which was shared by two winning tickets, the Powerball jackpot has been climbing. When the ping pong balls dropped last night, the estimated top prize in the game was $175 million.

To win that jackpot prize, a Powerball player must match five of the white ball numbers. The numbers range from 01 to 69. The player will also select a number for the Powerball; those numbers range from 01 to 26. If a player matches all five of the white ball numbers and the Powerball, they win the jackpot.
How Much Was the Powerball Lottery Jackpot on Wednesday Night?
Speaking of those numbers and last night's drawing. Here is how that played out for October 1, 2025.
Our sources at Powerball confirmed that no tickets sold across the game's footprint matched the numbers needed to claim the jackpot prize. There was a ticket that was sold in Georgia that matched all five of the white ball numbers. That prize is called a Match 5 Million because the player earns $1 million on a ticket with that combination.
In Louisiana, it wasn't a huge Powerball night in the state. Sure, we had a big winner, but based on the statistics from Wednesday, only about 3,000 tickets sold in Louisiana were Powerball winners last night. Let me clarify, non-Power Play Powerball winners is a more accurate description.
The Louisiana Lottery said that of those who spent the extra dollar to add Power Play to their ticket, there were about 2,000 winners. And in the case of Wednesday's numbers, that Power Play meant any prize that was earned was tripled in value.
What Were The Powerball Numbers On Wednesday Night?
Here are the numbers from the Powerball drawing for Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
08 17 22 28 55 Powerball 14 Power Play x3
The Louisiana Lottery stat sheet shows that 1,979 tickets earned four dollars, and another 1,290 tickets earned $12 just for matching the red Powerball. If you want to verify your tickets and winnings and make arrangements to collect a prize, you should visit the Official Louisiana Lottery website and the winners' portal.
As we mentioned earlier in the story, there was a single ticket sold in Louisiana that matched four of five white balls and the Powerball with the Power Play to claim a prize of $150,000 this morning. The big money winner was sold at the Circle K on Voters Road in Slidell.
There was no jackpot win in Lotto last night. That Louisiana Lottery game will continue to grow its jackpot prize. When they draw in Lotto on Saturday, the estimated top prize will be $2.725 million. While that jackpot amount seems high, it's been higher in the Lotto game. Back in 2015, two winning tickets, one sold in Dequincy and the other in Opelousas, split a Lotto jackpot of over $3.225 million.
No jackpot winner in Easy 5, another Louisiana Lottery game, which also held a drawing on Wednesday night. That game did get a jackpot winner this past Saturday when a ticket sold in Slidell earned a prize of over $200,000.
Here's where we stand after last night's games. Friday's Mega Millions will feature a jackpot of $520 million. Powerball on Saturday will draw for an estimated $195 million. Lotto will draw for $2.75 million, and Easy 5 will draw for $60,000.
