Louisiana Lottery Confirms Powerball Win Monday Night
It might be safe to assume that residents of coastal Louisiana, you know Cameron, Holly Beach, Rutherford Beach, and the like are hoping Louisiana doesn't use up too much of Lady Luck's time on lottery games. We'd really appreciate her blowing an ill wind, in the form of Francine, away from the state but in the meantime, the "Lady" did her business and helped Louisiana Powerball players win big on Monday night.
The estimated jackpot amount for the September 9, 2024, Powerball game was 123.1 million. That was for the annuitized jackpot. The lump sum estimation was listed as $62.1 million. We can confirm those amounts will be growing when Powerball holds its next drawing on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Here is how last night's drawing played out.
We already mentioned that no tickets sold across the Powerball footprint matched the numbers needed to claim the game's top prize. There were also no tickets sold that earned a Match 5 Million prize for Monday's drawing.
The Louisiana Lottery Confirms Big Powerball Win on Monday in Louisiana
Our sources at the Louisiana Lottery have confirmed that a Louisiana-sold ticket earned one of the largest prizes awarded in Monday's game. The ticket matched all five of the white balls and the Powerball that were part of the drawing on Monday. The ticket's purchaser did not opt-in for the Power Play which would have boosted their winnings by "3" last night.
By rule, the ticket we've described above is worth $50,000 this morning. If you recognize the building in the picture above and you bought a Powerball ticket for Monday night, you really should check those numbers. According to the Louisiana Lottery, the big winner was sold at Tobacco Plus #12 on East Main in Ville Platte, Louisiana.
If you're the holder of that ticket you will want to make sure you sign the back of it so in case it's lost or stolen and someone else attempts to cash in, they won't be able to. Other than the $50,000 winner players in Louisiana did not have a lucrative night playing Powerball. Only five tickets sold statewide earned a prize of $300 and only five tickets earned a prize of $100.
If you'd like to check your numbers:

That's what we saw roll out of the hopper. But before you head out to claim a prize, verify those ticket numbers against the Official Powerball Website or the Official Louisiana Lottery Website. Those sites have information on prize redemption as well.
Speaking of prizes there was a $60,000 win in the Easy 5 game from the Louisiana Lottery over the weekend. A ticket sold in Marrero matched the numbers needed to win that game's jackpot on Saturday night. That Easy 5 winner was purchased at Gasco on the Westbank Expressway.
Tonight's Mega Millions lottery game boasts a jackpot of $800 million. That game has not made a jackpot winner since June 4th of this year. Tonight's Mega Millions drawing will happen at 10 p.m. Meanwhile, Powerball's jackpot will rise to an estimated $134 million for the Wednesday night drawing.
