Louisiana Lottery Confirms Powerball Winners in South Louisiana

(Baton Rouge, LA) We are still receiving information from Saturday's more than one billion-dollar Powerball drawing and the winning tickets sold via the Louisiana Lottery. We had initial reports of three big wins in the state. As of now, we can only confirm two. But as is usually the case with big wins, the Louisiana Lottery reports that both of those tickets were sold along the I-10 corridor in South Louisiana.

There was no jackpot winner sold for Saturday's Powerball, which means tonight's jackpot will be rolled over from Saturday's game. This is actually the 43rd time the jackpot has rolled over since the last Powerball jackpot was won back in September.

How Often Does Powerball Get a Jackpot Winner?

In the case of Powerball, our DIY mathematical formula suggests that a jackpot win in that game occurs between drawing number 40 and drawing number 45. So, if our math is correct, we could see a winner in Powerball as early as tonight and most likely before Christmas Day.

As we mentioned, there was no jackpot winner in Saturday's Powerball drawing. There were some big wins, though. Seven tickets earned a million-dollar prize, and two of those seven earned a two-million-dollar prize by matching all five of the white ball numbers.

Louisiana had a large number of winning tickets sold. The majority of the winners were either for $4 or $8 for a Powerball match or a Powerball match with Power Play. But we do know of two confirmed big wins from Saturday's Powerball game.

Based on winner data from the Louisiana Lottery, we can confirm that a $50,000 winner was sold for Saturday's Powerball in Opelousas, Louisiana. That ticket was sold at GT Road on the I-49 Service Road.

The other big winner from Saturday's Powerball was sold in Lake Charles at Shop Rite #79, located at 2400 Country Club Road. I believe that location has sold a big Powerball winner in the past as well. Regardless of history, the big winner they sold on Saturday is worth $100,000 this morning.

Each of those winners will need to contact the nearest Louisiana Lottery office to arrange payment for their winnings. Tonight's Powerball drawing is scheduled for 10 pm Louisiana time. The jackpot is expected to be at least $1.1 billion for the annuitized jackpot and over $503 million for the cash payout.
