Lafayette's First Alberstons Celebrating 50th Anniversary

The Alberstons store at 2678 Johnston Street in Lafayette, Louisiana, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this Saturday, April 5, 2025.

The store first opened its doors to customers in the Hub City in 1975 and has been serving the heart of Acadiana ever since.

As a thank you, customers will find some "lagniappe" this Saturday when visiting the store between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Beginning at 10:00 am, the first 500 customers through checkout receive a door prize.
Samplings throughout the store include Albertsons' own Brands products, wine, and vendor products from Lay’s, Nabisco, Richard’s, Community Coffee, Dietz and Watson, and Pepsi.
Trivia contest with 50 questions – winners receive free groceries.
Cake and ice cream to celebrate the big day.
Coca-Cola HUG machine onsite – customers hug the machine and a free Coke appears.
Hot, boiled crawfish are available for purchase in the Seafood department.
Random drawings and prizes.
Beginning on Wednesday, April 2nd, in addition to the weekly ad, the store will have special pricing on a handful of items for this location only (select varieties, while supplies last, see store for
details).

Community Donation

In honor of the celebration, Albertsons will be making a donation of 50 cases of peanut butter (a most-needed item) to Second Harvest Acadiana, the store's Fresh Rescue partner.

Second Harvest Acadiana will be on site in front of the store at 10:00 on Saturday to receive the donation and commemorate the event.
