Massive FDA Recall Includes More Than 2,000 Products
(KMDL-FM) If we learned anything from 2025, it was this: food safety and consumer safety are paramount when it comes to the mission of the Food and Drug Administration. We've covered several recalls over the past 12 months, and it looks as if we are starting 2026 with one of the largest recalls I can recall in recent history. More than 2,000 consumer products are affected.
This particular recall advisory from the FDA is truly a "good news/bad news" scenario. There is some really good news for Louisiana consumers regarding this action, but before we tell you about the silver lining, let's look at the dark cloud.

More Than 2,000 Products Included in Massive FDA Recall Advisory
The list of items included in this FDA advisory is vast. It includes a "who's who" of brand-name products that I would hazard to guess are in every home in Louisiana. Some of the brands affected by the recall action include Reese's, Haribo Gummi Bears, Minute Maid, Pringles, Skittles, and Gatorade, to name a few.

The recall advisory also includes over-the-counter medications such as Advil, Aleve, Motrin, Claritin, DayQuil, and Benadryl. There are also some pet products from Purina, Fancy Feast, Friskies, and Nine Lives included in the advisory.
I am sure you're wondering at this point just how all of these very different products manufactured in very different places under very specific conditions managed to be included in the same FDA Recall Advisory. The reason they are connected in this advisory is not because of where or how they were made, but it's more a case of where they were stored.
FDA Reveals Unsanitary Reason for Massive Product Recall Advisory
The issues surrounding this recall involve a Gold Star Distribution Center in Minnesota. That distribution center was found to be contaminated and unclean. There were multiple reports of rodent and avian feces and droppings in and around the areas where these products were stored.

We mentioned that this was a "good news/bad news" scenario for Louisiana customers. The good news is that, so far, we have not discovered any Louisiana locations where these products were distributed. That doesn't mean you couldn't have obtained some of the recalled products via online purchases, but as of now, that scenario seems unlikely, but it is worth being cognizant of.
Here is a list of the recalled items and their distribution if you'd like to peruse for your own personal information and protection. You will find instructions on what steps to take should a refund or replacement product be required.
