A 16-year-old girl on Reddit says her mom dumped her boyfriend after he picked the teen up from school while drunk.

"My mother’s boyfriend, now ex, moved in around July. He swore to her up and down he would provide for us, pay off our mortgage, etc. Well, he 'supposedly' co-owns a company, but could not access his money, due to someone stealing his card information and then other reasons I’m not aware of. He moved in after about a week, he was in the military and has, PTSD making it hard for him to sleep, until my mother came along. Originally, he wanted my mother to move in with him, but she couldn’t due to having me," the teen began.

Things started to go wrong after he moved in. At one point, he even canceled his bank account and refused to open a new one.

"My mother was starting to get annoyed at certain comments and the way he would do things. He would say he would do something and never did it, whether it was hanging up a sign or checking tire pressure, etc. He also stated he had not had a drink it months, though he used to be a borderline alcoholic and drink vodka like it was water," the girl continued.

"Yesterday, he picked me up from school and it was clear something was wrong. It wasn’t until today when he came back from a 'walk' at 9:30 in the morning saying him and my mom had to talk, simply saying, 'You don’t seem to want me here, I’m leaving, I have a U-Haul outside.' He packed his stuff and left after two hours, yet seeming to 'forget' things that are just SO important to him, including his birthday certificate," she shared.

Elaborating, the teen explained "he was drunk when he picked me up yesterday [from school] and had been lying about not having money," adding that her mom found a bottle of his vodka in their house after he left.

People in the comments section of the post sided with the teen.

"His situation is his own fault. He is a failure as an adult," one person wrote.

"The obviously lying boyfriend needed to hit the road anyhow. It was cruel of him to tell you that you were the reason. He is the reason. You and your mother are very lucky he has left. Don’t let him come back and make sure you change the locks!" someone else suggested.

"He didn't leave because of you. He was scamming your mom from the start and she started to see through his lies. Not your fault," someone else shared.
