A man lost control of his car in the late afternoon hours of Saturday, December 12, and the resulting crash claimed the man's life.

Louisiana State Police Troop I Spokesman Thomas Gossen says, via press release, that 49-year-old Chad Joseph Chesterman lost control of his Corvette at a curve in the road on Louisiana Highway 91. This was in the area of Heith Lane which is in Acadia Parish.

Gossen says from what investigators can put together at this time, Chesterman was going down Highway 91 when his car went off of the roadway. He ended up hitting a ditch along with some trees, and because he was not wearing a seat belt, the Iota man was thrown out of the car.

The Acadia Parish Coroner's Office pronounced the man dead at that the scene, and Gossen says that routine toxicology tests are pending to determine whether or not the man might have been impaired.

He says their investigation is still going on at this time.

So far this year, there have been sixty deaths from fifty-five fatal crashes that have happened in the Troop I Acadiana region.
