Flooding Brings About Hundreds Of Dead Fish To Moncus Park
It’s been a month since Lafayette Parish and south Louisiana was flooded during a weekend of torrential downpours that became so much worse than any of us expected.
And its effects still linger on and can be seen around the region.
Here in Lafayette, hundreds of dead fish are popping up at Moncus Park (formerly known as the Horse Farm).
"The smell is awful," said Denise Duhon, whose office overlooks the area, to our news partners at KATC. "To think--all these fish--it's such a waste."
Reporter Breanna Molloy says Wildlife and Fisheries agents expect turtles and birds to eat the decomposing fish within a week.
