The first weekend in May should be marked on your calendars so you don't forget about the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival. This Louisiana culinary classic began in 1960 and has grown in popularity ever since. Each year, thousands of locals and visitors alike descend upon Breaux Bridge for a weekend of music, dancing, and, of course, delicious crawfish

The Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival is a celebration of all things Cajun. Crawfish takes center stage at this annual event. From crawfish boils to étouffée, gumbo, and everything in between, crawfish fans have the opportunity to indulge in a variety of mouthwatering dishes prepared by local chefs and vendors.

Music, Dancing, and Fun for All

In addition to all things crawfish, the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival is well known for its music and lively atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy an eclectic lineup of live bands performing a mix of Cajun, zydeco, blues, and other genres rooted in Louisiana culture.

Cultural Exhibits and Activities

Beyond the food and music, the festival offers a variety of cultural exhibits and activities that showcase the unique heritage of Cajun Country. From cooking demonstrations and crawfish-eating contests to crafts and storytelling sessions, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Visitors can learn about the history of Breaux Bridge and its significance within the Cajun community, gaining a deeper appreciation for the traditions that have been passed down through generations.

The Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival also plays an important role in supporting the local economy. From the farmers who harvest the crawfish to the vendors at the event, the festival provides a platform for small businesses to showcase their products and services to a larger audience. By attending the festival, visitors not only get to enjoy a fun-filled weekend but also contribute to the economic growth and vitality of the community.
