The heat is on across South Louisiana and any break in the extreme temperatures would be welcome.

Just as the kids are preparing to return to school, we are now seeing temperatures reach the triple digits and heat indices on some days are exceeding 105 to 110 degrees.

So yes, we would welcome any type of break in the extreme temperatures and it would not have to be much.

A strong Canadian cool front is expected to push southward in the days ahead, but will it even reach the Gulf Coast? While we may have to wait and see if it does reach the Deep South, it may not bring a huge difference in temperatures, but it could lower the humidity levels for just a few days.

As you'll see on the map below, the dark blue colors at the U.S. and Canadian border signify that the air is "cool" and the dark red colors down south show the extreme temperatures we've been experiencing.

Meteorologist Zack Fradella does not predict that this front will reach us, but if it does, it could make the days and nights a bit more bearable with lower humidity levels.

Let's keep in mind that we are approaching the peak of hurricane season and these types of fronts could draw storms towards the Gulf states if and when a storm is in the Gulf of Mexico.

So until then, we will continue to find ways to cool off this summer and that may include swimming or not wearing much clothing while out in public. We've all seen it.

One more thing, if anyone is aware of a "Cool Front Dance" please share it with all of us here, we can all do our part in hopes of getting some relief from this summer heat.

Check out what is now being called a "Humidity Front" and if that means more bearable conditions, we'll take this too.

For those, like me, who would love to see a cool front sweep across the area the local forecast does not seem to favor the idea of this cool front reaching us.

Here's what can expect as we get closer to mid-August.
