Child Rape Charges Against An Opelousas Man

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a man for allegedly having sex with a child under the age of twelve according to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Deputy Chief Eddie Thibodeaux, says in a press release, that officials have arrested 56-year-old Phillip Joseph Wayne Guidry for Second-Degree Rape along with other charges.

Detectives began investigating after a woman called them to report that her child was missing from their home.

Thibodeaux says that someone that was concerned for the child's safety reported that she saw this child in a car with Guidry. After a time, the child and Guidry then went into a motel room.

It is alleged that Guidry, while in the motel room with the child had sex with her. Investigators also say they arrested 35-year-old Raquel Renee Rubin for helping the young child leave her home.

Thibodeaux says all of this transpired on June 30th.

In addition to the rape charge, Guidry has also being charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile and Illegal Carrying of Weapons by a Convicted Felon. His bond was set at $55,000. He was arrested on July 1.

The woman, Rubin, has been charged with two counts oif Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. Her bond has been set at $10,000. She was arrested Monday, July 6.

Officials say it was Rubin who took the young girl to Rubin's home where she waited to be picked up by Guidry.

During the time that the child was in the car with Guidry, it is also alleged that he gave her alcohol before taking her into the motel room.
