I don't know why humans have to be so cruel:  someone shot and killed a deer that lived in a cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.

According to KCTV5, "Ella" the deer was born in the cemetery over two years ago; her mother was hit by a car when she was just a few months old.  To many of the people in the area, she had become almost a pet:  she would stand near a group of mourners when there was a funeral, and would even poke her head into the chapel from time to time.  Ella had even made "friends" with a stray dog, and the two would pal-around at the cemetery.  The dog has been adopted and is now living with a family.

Ella had survived an attack a few months back, but wasn't so lucky this time.

Don't get me wrong: I am a firm believer in hunting/fishing.  If you are doing it to put food on your table, I have no problem with it - just do it legally.  This was a blatant disregard for the law, and showed blatant disrespect for nature and life in general.

Workers will be cremating Ella and spreading her ashes around the cemetery, the only home she ever knew.
